RiME+ Meeting in Utrecht

Events

On 2 and 3 October, Bureau REACH hosted a meeting of risk management experts from across Europe in Utrecht: The Risk Management Experts Meeting (RiME+).

The Dutch contribution consisted of four items on the agenda:

  • A presentation of a draft Regulatory Management Option Analysis (RMOA) for enzymes, with specific attention to allergic reactions caused by inhalation;
  • An announcement of a planned RMOA focusing on steelmaking slags, and concerns raised by residents living near areas where these materials are used as construction material;
  • The screening of substances for the combination of the properties persistence, mobility and toxicity;
  • The Netherlands’ initiative to launch a technical and policy discussion on the need for a European strategy for the development and validation of test methods.

The meeting was co-chaired by experts from Bureau REACH and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). More than 80 participants took part in the meeting (35 of them in person), and the organization and outcomes received very positive feedback.
