U-PFAS Dossier Under Evaluation
The evaluation of the universal PFAS restriction dossier, submitted under REACH by the Netherlands and four other Member States, was a central topic during 2024 in meetings of ECHA’s scientific committees RAC and SEAC.
The proposal, submitted in January 2023, is currently being updated by the expert teams of the submitting countries based on input received from stakeholders, while the scientific committees continue their assessment of the dossier.
The evaluation follows a phased approach and is addressed sector by sector. In December, the submitters delivered the seventh version of the background document to ECHA, incorporating updates for nearly all sectors covered in the original dossier. The final two updates will follow in 2025.
Following publication of the RAC and SEAC opinions, a consultation on the SEAC opinion will be launched. Based on the responses received, final revisions may be made before the European Commission begins its decision-making process.
